Al Pitrelli joined BÖC as a "temp" in February of 1999, to fill in for a brief absence taken by Allen Lanier. Pitrelli got the call from his good friend, Danny Miranda, and jumped into BÖC with no rehearsal, filling in for a month and a half.
After his stint with BÖC, he joined Megadeth, and played with them during 2000-2002, recording "The World Needs A Hero" album.
After Megadeth, he re-joined Savatage. Pitrelli has also played with Savatage, Alice Cooper ("Trash" Tour and "Hey Stoopid" album) and Asia.
His main project today is The Trans Siberian Orchestra, a unique project that started by playing classic Christmas music in a heavy metal/classical style, but branched out from there to create other conceptual albums. They continue their yearly holiday tours, and are incredibly successful. Also playing with Trans-Siberian Orchestra is former BÖC'er, John O'Reilly.
Pitrelli also had a band with his wife (and Trans-Siberian keyboard ace) Jane Mangini called "O'2L". This band also had John O'Reilly on the drums. They have recorded three albums, and you can purchase them at the O'2L Website.
